Tongji Institute for China & World Studies signed a cooperation agreement with Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan
In order to further promote the friendly relations between China and Japan, and to give the students of Tongji University and Seikei University better access to the culture and environment of each other’s country, Tongji Distinguished Professor Men Honghua, President of Tongji Institute for China & World Studies, and HANJI Takayuki, General Manager of the Corporate Communications Dept., Mitsubishi Corporation, formally signed a cooperation agreement on July 18, 2017. According to the agreement, Mitsubishi Corporation will fund one Tongji student’s one-year study in Japan each year, covering scholarships, accommodation and transportation, etc.; Tongji will recommend such candidates to Mitsubishi Corporation and Seikei University. Tongji Institute for China & World Studies will be responsible for handling the concrete steps.
Mitsubishi Corporation has more than 200 branches in about 90 countries including Japan. It works with about 1,200 acquired companies to carry out business activities. It is the largest general trading company. Mitsubishi Corporation conducts business through a business system consisting of global environment and infrastructure, new industrial finance, energy, metals, machinery, chemicals and life, together with business service divisions. In 1973, Mitsubishi Corporation set up a special department dedicated to social contribution. It has continuously carried out a variety of activities all over the world focusing on global environment, welfare, education, culture & art, and international exchange & contribution.
Seikei University is a prestigious private university located in Musashino, Tokyo Prefecture, Japan. Its predecessor can be traced back to 1906 when it was affiliated to Zaibatsu Mitsubishi. Seikei was officially established in 1949 and has been accredited by the Ministry of Education of China. It is reported that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe graduated from this university.
